Sahara – Moses Basket
Moses baskets are typically used from newborn to around 6 months, depending on how early your baby learns to roll. The baskets are a very decent size so are great for even a tall baby.
Perfect for that boho mumma friend of yours or for adding some interest and colour to your own nursery. Or, if you’re anything like me, because you just love the sight of your baby sleeping in such a gorgeous handwoven basket!
Moses baskets can be brought with you wherever you go – on a picnic, to a friends place, or just into the living room, and placed on any flat and secure surface or inside a cot. They are very light to carry.
Each basket has been individually woven by the men and women from the town of Bolgatanga in Ghana. The elephant grass used for weaving the baskets grows abundantly in this region where agriculture is difficult. The elephant grass is very strong so these baskets are very durable, light and practical.
The handles of the baskets are covered with cured Goat leather which is the preferred choice of the Ghanaians, as goats are the main source of meat and it is culture to honour the animal by using all parts so that nothing goes to waste.
Once all of your gorgeous babes are no longer sleeping in a moses basket, it is the perfect basket for toys, towels, teddies, or anything really. We know you will love it!
Moses baskets are for stationary nap-time use and babies are to be supervised by an adult at all times while in the moses basket. Do not carry the basket while your baby is inside, as the handles may not fully support your baby’s weight. Do not place the moses basket on a slippery or uneven surface. Moses baskets are suitable only for babies who cannot sit up, roll over or push up onto their hands and knees.
